MidJourney AI Tool

… and that’s intelligence?

I have found my niche so to speak. I don’t do well making the things I am seeing all over … the Dystopian cities and evil creatures lol … I’m all about generating a nice portrait.

Sugar Skulls have been my latest fascination.

I just finished reading a book with all kinds of fantastical pseudo pen and ink art illustrating the story. At the end, the author states that he didn’t have the time or the money to hire an illustrator, instead using a paid-for ai generator. He had a LOT of fails before it came up with the ones he used, and he showed a lot of those fails in the short chapter, LOL.

Does it beg the question though on commercially using this stuff? I don’t know. Part of me wants to say yes. A lot of legalities need to be sorted regarding the derivative nature of this stuff.

And it certainly points to the death of illustration. A hard, quick, but not painless death by machine.

BTW RKK, I’ve been following your work here. You are making that software dance rings for you! Nice stuff!

It will be interesting to see what happens. I’m just an old lady who loves to play around with what results I can get and other than showing it off to friends … that’s it.

On the other hand, I see a real potential for abuse from those looking to make moola. I’ve seen some results from people that I have no idea how they accomplished it or how anyone is ever going to be able to tell it was AI generated.

A few spooky houses for Halloween

I stumbled upon an interesting YouTube video about AI generated art and how it is getting much better very quickly. But be warned it does turn into an advert for the sponsor at the end of the video.

I haven’t gotten nearly that involved in AI. I really like keeping it online and only using it when I want to have some fun. I would be thrilled when and if the hands start forming right. I almost got it in one session. After several renders it wasn’t getting any better so I just gave up. But, so far playing with all of them, Midjourney is the best as far as I’m concerned.

Anyhoo… here is what sort of thrilled me with how well it turned out. I do dream of the day that hands will no longer be mangled

I’ve also been working on textures. (hair, marble, fur, skin)

This wolf came out great … but AI can’t do animal hands either

At least some art sites are fighting back. Well… at least one of them:

I’m sure it’s making a lot of folks nervous. I’m just playing around when I want to kill time. There are people out there that it’s become their new lifes effort. I see the things being created and quite honestly … it’s scary. Like I said I think my little dabblings are cute … but I have seen things that I don’t think you could tell it’s AI. Check out r/midjourney over on reddit sometime. It will boggle your mind. They now have a couple other AI channels.

One fellow was even trying to sell his prompt for "perfect’’ hands. Needless to say they weren’t and no one was having it. He didn’t like being told no one was paying him for a prompt. Then someone went over to Midjourney looking for him. He apparently used the same name and they posted the prompt

It’s already cutthroat … I can just imagine whats going to transpire as it gets better and more fine tuned.

I noticed a couple of yours bear a striking resemblance to Eleanor Tomlinson.
It’s interesting that the AI will use an artistic ‘style’ but still use photos as a reference. On more than one occasion I’ve seen things done as “oil painting” or “dry brush” that were fairly easy to find the photo reference.

I think my new retirement scheme will be to post art, then look for derivatives and collect money.
Present company excluded, of course.

Oh I’ve definitely seen slight resemblances to certain famous folks. I never put in anyone’s name like some do. There are TONS of “paintings” with Scarlett Johansson face lol  I didn’t find the fun in that. I want to push the buttons and see what I get. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a feeling that eventually there is going to be some sort of crackdown on using a person’s likeness without their permission. I don’t think coming close to some is avoidable … but deliberately uploading pictures and prompting with specific names is another thing all together. At least I think so … but, I’m a nobody :stuck_out_tongue:

Midjourney just had a big crackdown on images that contained gore an other disturbing things. I’m glad I never saw them … but people are already complaining saying their “rights of expression” are being infringed

One gent was complaining that he can’t generate images of Al Gore because of the key word “gore” being removed. He was very upset.

I thought … really? You desperately want to generate Al Gore? LOL.

I don’t think just cuz its “AI” that Rights of Publicity are negated. There are no police in charge of this though, so it’s going to take some pretty deep pockets to de-entrench what’s already happened.
I don’t have the patience for new software any more. HeroForge is more my speed. LOL!

Midjourney came out with Version 4 a couple weeks ago. It’s producing some amazing results! The hands are still a nightmare though  So I still avoid all images that will need to use them :stuck_out_tongue:

Those are fantastic! I think you’ve mastered it. :grinning:

I’m really surprised at how well the Christmas Village turned out. From my playing around with MidJourney, I didn’t have good luck with landscapes. My limited number of tries ran out just as I was starting to catch on. I just might sign up for their $10-per-month plan, but I haven’t decided yet.

I ran across the following AI job today For DALL•E 2. If I were two or three decades younger, this is a job that would cause me to get on a plane, fly to San Francisco, chain myself to their front door, and beg to get.

Thanks B  And you could sooooo do that job. Sounds pretty great
