Oh yeah … it’s pretty big over here … at least in my circle
After I realized the Doctor is constantly changing I try not to get too attached. I adored Tennet … and when he left my Whovian world collapsed and I didn’t want to watch anymore. But, curiosity got the better of me and when I forced myself to get through the first episode with Matt Smith, I was in love with the Doctor all over again. And I really liked Capaldi’s portrayal. Our latest incarnation did not set well with a lot of folks … but I actually liked Jody. I got to know her in Broadchurch and thought she was fantastic. What I didn’t like was the story line and the tribe she was now forced to carry with her and look out for. It all just seemed too much.
Mine too. PBS aired those episodes quite often for a few years, which is the only place I’ve ever seen Dr Who. Sometime around then or a few years later, maybe, PBS aired Red Dwarf, which I never really could get into.
I’ve never seen it either. For whatever reason, it didn’t pique my interest when I was younger. Now, the Dr. Who universe seems to complicated (different series, different actors, TV, movies, etc.), I wouldn’t know where to jump in.
I only watch the series. I don’t watch the cartoons and off shoots at all or listen to podcasts. I’m not a universe sort of fan.
Well… the only one I did watch was Torchwood. Soley because of Jack I really liked that until the 4th season. It just kept getting more stupid and began to annoy me. I did watch it… but when I watch reruns I skip the last season.
Owen becoming the living dead was hard to process without laughing … but, Ianto dying was enough for me. They managed to kill everyone off… well almost I will say though if anyone who hasn’t watched it tries it … it’s very … shall we say… risqué? Doctor Who is more family friendly.
Oh and I meant to mention when talking about the different Docs … that I remember the first time I ever saw Peter Capaldi in anything … he was playing a Trans woman in Prime Suspect.
See … I’ve been watching good British drama TV for decades
Don’t get me started on your Britcoms though … I’ve seen and loved sooo many!
I’ve watched every episode of The Repair Shop. I don’t know why, but watching as they fix up old, broken items of various sorts is fascinating. It also makes me feel good.
My wife and I have been enjoying Murderville. It’s a Will Arnett comedy. Each episode features a different celebrity guest. The guest does not have a script and tries to solve the murder as the episode plays out. There is some language in the trailer.
After watching the first episode of Murderville, we got the schtick on solving the murder and then played along to try to solve the murders along with the show.
We’ll check out Medical Police. Thanks for the suggestion.
I’ve been watching a Chinese science fiction series on Netflix called The Silent Sea. I’m a sucker for science fiction, but I’m unsure if I’ll finish it. Some suspension of disbelief is necessary for science fiction. But when elements in the story needlessly violate the laws of physics, I start losing interest. The cinematography is excellent, though.
